The lower figure holds scriptures (as a symbol of the iron rod) and ponders the Book of Mormon prophet, Lehi’s, vision of the “joy of the partaking of the fruit" described as ‘the love of God". A mother’s greatest hope for her children is that they will feel the love their Savior has for them in this life and eternally. I try to to depict that love as the upper figure is immersed in its light.
